Reading – Joshua 12 - 14

Verse for the day:
He followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly. (Joshua 14:14)

Caleb trusted God with all his heart. He allowed no doubt to creep in and find root and grow. He alone with Joshua took God at his word, that the promises would all be kept. Because of his whole hearted, undivided trust in God, he was granted life and vigor beyond the normal span of years. God had promised he would live in the place where he had walked when he spied out the land. And God kept that promise.

God makes each of us promises too. But each promise is passed on the concept of complete trust in God. He wants your whole hearted devotion, your complete acceptance of his plan and his purpose. Does this mean we have to be perfect? No it does not. We are human and we make mistakes. But God sees the motives and intent of our hearts. He knows when the intent was right, the motive pure, just sometimes our methods don’t work. But don’t lose heart, just remember that what God has promised, he will fulfill, in his time, in his way, if we will remain wholeheartedly devoted.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the promises you have fulfilled, and thank you even more for the promises that are yet to be fulfilled. Strengthen my heart and my spirit to remain faithful in all things, to not lose heart and to keep my motives and intent pure for you, in Jesus name, amen.
