Reading – Deuteronomy 32 – 34

Verse for the day:
“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long.” (Deuteronomy 33:12)

Have you ever sat and rocked an infant? Have you sheltered her in your arms? Have you enclosed her with warmth and security and love? Many are the times I have rocked an infant over the years. Rocked and comforted and protected a tiny little bundle of love. It mattered not if their name was Anna or Joe or Amanda or Daniel or Corey or Aaron or Shyann or Annabell, they were/are each beloved. I would shield them each from harm. I would provide security for them. I would love them with every ounce of my being. And they responded by snuggling close and falling asleep, secure in my arms.

God’s love for me is so much greater than my overwhelming love for all the babies that have enriched my life. I am his beloved and all he wants for me to do is snuggle close to him and rest secure in the knowledge that he has everything under control. He doesn’t want me to tilt at windmills. He wants me to trust him to fight the battle. He doesn’t want me to struggle alone; he wants to carry me through the good times and the difficult times.

Can I, for this one day, surrender completely to His love? Can I, for today, learn the satisfaction and delight of living completely within God’s sheltering embrace? Can I, for today, be rocked in the comfort of his arms? Can I, for today, set aside my rebellious nature and my thirst for independence and rest securely in my Father? Can I turn my life completely over to Him, and rest assured that he knows exactly what he is doing? It’s a matter of trust. Do I, do you, trust him enough to let go and let God?

Holy Heavenly Father, overcome my fears of letting go the control and surrendering completely to you. Touch my heart with your everlasting love and let me feel you for today. I surrender all to you Father, catch me in your love. In Jesus Name, Amen.
