Reading – Leviticus 11 – 12
Egypt was a place of bondage and slavery for the Hebrew people. Yes, there may have been good things about the life. They talk about plenty of food and a great variety of it. But they were regulated and controlled by an absolute monarch who had decided they were a threat to his regime. I would not call a place that murdered every baby son that was born to me a wonderful place to live.
We each have our Egypt that God has called up out of. Our personal place of bondage and slavery. A place we may struggle with all of our lives, but God calls us from it into His Holy presence. He calls us to be holy as He is Holy.
Hard you say? Difficult – Impossible!! Remember that nothing is impossible with God. He provides the sacrifice that pays the debt for our sin. He provides the cleansing that purifies our hearts. He provides the garment for each of us to wear that makes us Holy in his sight. And He provides the dry cleaning service that removes each and every spot and stain we may get on our new garment.
So what do we have to do? Basically nothing. There is nothing we can do to make ourselves good enough. So - - invite God in and then stand aside and let Him do the work.
Oh yes, don’t ever look back with longing. Remember Lot’s wife. Remember the Hebrews who longed for Egypt. Keep you focus on God and let Him work the impossible in you.
Dear Heavenly Father, I surrender to you. Take me, just as I am and make me into what you want me to be. Keep me focused on you and always moving toward the goal that you have given me. In Jesus name, Amen.
