April 3
Reading – II Samuel 5 – 8
The other day I went to the park. It was a beautiful, warm spring day. There was a gentle breeze blowing softly through the budded branches of the trees. It coaxed me to dance with her. She was irresistible; I had to dance with her in a joyful spring ballet. I ended up on the swings, floating high as the breeze whipped through my hair. Did I look like a fool that day to someone else? Probably, but you know what? I didn’t care. It didn’t feel foolish; it seemed right and an appropriate way to praise God for his gift of another spring.
God coaxes us into praise and worship. He wants to hear his name on our lips sung with uninhibited joy. If he leads you to dance on a hillside in praise to him, who cares what someone else thinks. Being a fool for God is giving yourself totally into his control and allowing him full reign in your life. Saying and doing, even singing and dancing, at his direction no matter what the crowd thinks or says.
I love you Father God above
For who and what you are
And that you stooped to rescue me
My bright and morning star
Father God I follow you
Wherever you may lead
And when the evil threatens
For your Spirit I will plead
Father God I humbly pray
For strength and wisdom true
To know what you would wish for me
In all that I must do
